Station 77 was dispatched with Collegeville Fire Company and Trappe EMS to a motor vehicle accident on College Avenue between E. First Avenue and E. Ninth Avenue. Dispatch updated responding units to report that the vehicle had struck several mailboxes and a utility pole.

Upon arrival, Engine 77 found the EMS crew treating the driver, an SVU which came to rest against a utility pole, and wires hanging low across the street. The Engine 77 crew assisted with closing the road and checking the wires to ensure safety of the responders working on the scene.

The driver was removed from the vehicle and the vehicle was removed by a towing company. College Avenue will remain closed to through traffic until Verizon and PECO can rehang any wires and replace damaged poles.

An accident investigation will be completed by Collegeville Police Department.
