Station 77 and E93 (Upper Providence Twp.) were dispatched to a duck rescue at the intersection of Valley View Drive and Starmont Way, Upper Providence Township at 1738 hours.
Lieutenant 77 and Engine 77 arrived to find 4 little ducklings stuck in a storm drain with the mother duck close by. The 4 little ducklings were stuck between two storm drains quacking for help. Engine 77's crew removed both storm drains and created a trap to remove the 4 little ducklings. A fan was placed on one side of the storm drain creating a flow path pushing the little ducks into the other storm drain. At the other storm drain, the 4 little ducklings jumped into a box that was placed to capture them.
The duck rescue was complete at 1758 hours.
Once removed from the storm drains, the 4 little ducks were reunited with their mother and waddled back into a nearby pond.
No ducks were injured and all units were clear at 1804 hours. |
