Chimney Fire in Collegeville Borough

Station 34, Engine and Ladder 77, Engine 66 , and Tower 53 along with Medic 324-12 were dispatched to a dwelling fire in the 200 block of Saylor Lane, Collegeville Borough at 1058 hours.

Chief 34 went responding and received notes that the homeowner had a fire in the fireplace on the 1st floor, but smoke was filling the basement.

Police arrived on scene with smoke in the basement. Chief 34 arrived and established Saylor Lane Command.

Ladder 77 responded with a crew of 6 and established the first due truck assignments. Ladder 77's crew placed ground ladders, placed the main aerial to the roof, and went inside to investigate. Engine 77 responded with a crew of 3, stood by at the hydrant, and prepared to provide a water supply.

Interior crews removed the contents inside the of the fire place and investigated the smoke in the basement. Tower 53's crew went to the roof and investigated the outside of the chimney.

All units were clear at 1134 hours.
