The annual Trappe Fire Company picnic and bonfire was held Saturday, November 21st on the fire company grounds and was attended by approximately 60 members.
The weather was perfect and the bonfire warm as the sun set in Trappe, PA.
Hamburgers and hot dogs were provided by the company and everything else was donated by local businesses. A big thank you goes to Wegman's, Giant, Target and Bruster's ice Cream for providing donations that helped make this year's event a smash.
The highlight of the night was the pie eating contest. Sean McCarraher and Tom Sheehan competed bite by bite. In the end, Sean finished the entire blueberry pie first to take the blue ribbon.
In the kids' division, a chip off the old block, James McCarraher finished his pie before his competitors for first place.
This year's chili cook off champ is Rich Schroeder. The judges really enjoyed the addition of crab meat into his traditional chili recipe.
And in the first ever home brew competition at Trappe, EMS DC Clint Tichnell won best of show with his Smoked Jalapeno Ale. The judges were very impressed with all entries.
After dark, The Fermentors acoustic trio performed around the bonfire.
Thanks to the party committee members who worked to make this year's event happen. Kudos to Jeremy Burke, Renee Sullivan, Kristin Norwood, Jenn McCloy and Sean McCarraher. And thank you to all the fire members who set up and cleaned up the bay, and commandeered lots of fire wood! |
